MADAM – I was interested to see the reference to the Canning Jewel (News, ATG No 2390).
As noted in the article, it was sold for £10,000 at Sotheby’s on July 16, 1931, where it was bought for Mrs Harkness by Edgar Bluett.
Mrs Harkness was a fairly regular visitor to Bluetts when she visited London in the 1920s-30s. The sale caused considerable press interest.
