The 8in (20cm) high carved oak mount modelled as a falcon wearing a closed imperial crown depicts Anne Boleyn’s royal badge c.1533-36. It is believed to be by carver Richard Rydge (fl.1532-36).
The falcon before it had been cleaned, black from soot and wax deposits.
