A PLAN to name and shame those failing to pay fixed penalties for dog fouling has been scrapped by Argyll and Bute Council.
After receiving internal legal advice, councillors were told ‘shaming’ cannot be made part of the council’s policy.
Councillor Robin Currie said: ‘I am disappointed we cannot name and shame. Dog fouling is completely unacceptable and is a problem that has to be taken seriously, not just by the council but by the government.’
