Marital difficulties

It comes as little surprise to hear that the body created through an arranged marriage between Argyll and Bute Council and the NHS is facing financial problems.

Rumours of a cash shortfall have been growing in volume for the past year. Health and social care are complex areas when taken individually. Bring them together and it is little wonder there are difficulties. Add to that the ingrained practices of two public bodies forced together in this way, mix into this a prolonged recession and an increasingly elderly population in Argyll, and you have a recipe for a £22 million gap over two years.
