Local plays clean up at drama festival

Two original plays written on Arran were the big winners at the 2019 Arran Drama Festival held over three nights last week, taking home six awards between them.

Andy McMamara’s comedy Numquam Non Paratus took the top prize, the Archie Kerr Wooley Trophy, along with acting prizes for Andy and Alan Nicol in the lead role in the play, performed by Whiting Bay Music and Drama.

The winning youth play, written by Arran’s own Rory Morrison and performed by The Young Ones, was Between a Writer’s Block and a Hard Place. Shannon Galbraith picked up the trophy for best youth performance and they also won the best moment of theatre award.
