All eyes on Ardrossan

As Brodick’s new ferry terminal is officially opened, it is good to see some progress being made at Ardrossan.

The mainland harbour owners were quick to make big promises when they were fighting to retain the ferry service, but it has taken a government-led taskforce to get us to this stage – but now all eyes are on Ardrossan.

At least it has now been recognised, well in advance of the arrival of the new ferry, that the main berth needs to be realigned to give her a fighting chance to provide the same, or hopefully better, reliability than the MV Caledonian Isles.

But a lot of work still needs to be done to get to the construction stage and that must press ahead soon.

The creation of a new linkspan and a new terminal building will also take time, given it took two years in Brodick, albeit for a much bigger project.
