Young hockey talent keeps ladies top of the league

Giffnock Ladies 2s 1 Arran Ladies 2

Arran Ladies remain top of the league after a narrow away win over Giffnock at the weekend.

They are now 11 games unbeaten and sit top of the West District Women’s Hockey League Division 4 and five points clear of their nearest rivals Ardrossan Ladies 2s.

Arran travelled to play Giffnock Ladies 2s with a healthy 13 players and an umpire. With most of Arran’s regular midfield players unable to attend Saturday’s game, match experience was given to the new, younger players in the club, Hannah McCartney, Jemima Currie and Freya McNicol. The girls played with great determination and commitment. Freya gave such a good show of herself as the right back defender, she was voted ‘dame of the game’ by her team-mates on her debut game.
