ATHLETICS has a 50-year deal to use the Olympic Stadium in London during July and the sport is certainly getting its money’s worth this month. Last week I was one of thousands of runners who took part at the Great Team Relay in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and this weekend I’ll return to the venue to watch the Müller Anniversary Games.
Football has already made its mark with West Ham’s distinctive claret and blue colours dominating the stands, together with a big supporters’ shop outside the stadium. Yet right now the famous arena is very much the property of athletics and this weekend will see a feast of track and field.
