HIS son may have had the natural talent and work ethic to carry out his meticulous instruction with devastating effect on the world stage, but there can be no overstating the enormous role Peter Coe played in shaping a remarkable athletics career.
When the former engineer assumed the role of coach, he brought with him an analytical mind and an approach of complete precision which innovated and arguably set a template for many practices which were unheard of then but are commonplace within the sport now.
