Future Homes Standard consultation sets bargainbasement fabric targets
The long-awaited Future Homes Standard consultation was launched on 13th December, and was subject to immediate criticism from the sustainability sector. The consultation leads on the idea of ditching fossil fuel boilers in favour of either heat pumps or district heat networks (even solutions such as hydrogen boilers and wood-fired systems are not expected to make the cut). Moving to heat pumps demonstrably reduces carbon emissions, but the news means the flip-flopping on boiler bans continues.
