TOM MEIGHAN
THE RECKONING
TOWNSEND
★★★★★
Ejected from Kasabian for domestic violence, a repentant Tom Meighan addresses past failures on powerful ballad Scared and the bluesy Don’t Give In. His old band’s gonzo glam is present in Acrobat and Better In The Dark but, for someone who didn’t contribute to Kasabian’s writing, he has a superb variety. Daytona Racing’s Muse-meets-Slade is particularly fun, and his voice has the escapist holler of Kasabian’s early years throughout. Determined to make a fresh start, this is the best answer a newly focused Meighan could give on where his future belongs.
