Roku shows adverts before home screen
I’ve not watched the 2020 film Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo!, and doubt I ever will, but I don’t mind Roku advertising the movie on its home screen (pictured). Roku calls these ‘marquee’ ads (see www.snipca. com/54272), and they’re not too intrusive. If they help keep Roku devices affordable, then so be it.
But recently Roku has been playing adverts before the home screen appears, annoying me and thousands of others. I kept seeing a trailer for the Disney film Moana 2. Soon the Reddit forum for Roku users was packed with people complaining. Many said they were considering ditching Roku as a result (www.snipca.com/54273).
