Why can’t I sign in after wiping my laptop?

I’ve tried to wipe my old Dell Inspiron laptop following your instructions in Issue 710’s Cover Feature (‘Wipe all your old devices’). The procedure appeared to have been completed and the machine switched off. When I restarted it, it asked for a password in the normal way. But having entered this, I got the message: ‘The user Profile Service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded.’ So, I’m stuck. Can you help please?

A Are you still seeing your Windows account username above the password box on the Windows login screen? If so, this may mean you haven’t successfully wiped your computer using Windows’ built-in Reset tool.
