LIBREOFFICE WRITER
Adjust how your justified text looks
Justifying your text makes multi-column or print-style layouts look neater. Version 25.8 of LibreOffice Writer, released in August, lets you set how loose or tight your justified text appears, improving the overall look of your document.
Click ‘Format’ at the top, then Paragraph followed by the Alignment tab ( 1 in our screenshot below). Now select Justified 2 and under the Justification heading select a ‘Word spacing’ percentage in the Minimum, Desired and Maximum menus 3 . Click OK to confirm. Respectively these set the smallest, most ideal and widest gaps between your words when spreading text across a line. It keeps paragraphs looking neat by reducing ugly stretched spaces and cutting down on unnecessary hyphens.
