Add up rows and columns at the same time
You might know that pressing Alt+= adds up a row or column of numbers and shows the total. But you can also use it to add up both rows and columns at once when you select a rectangular block of numbers.
In our example, we want to add up rows (A1:D1, A2:D2 etc) and the columns (A1:A4, B1:B4 etc). We do this by selecting them and dragging the highlighted box so it includes the E column to the right and the A5:E5 row at the bottom (see screenshot 1 ). We then press Alt+= and the added totals appear in that column and row 2 .
