Nothing will stop me cooking.
I was raised by my mum and she was often in the kitchen, as were my granny and aunties.
It was always where everyone was. I was fascinated by food, but I really got involved with it because I’m coeliac and wanted to make things I could eat as I’m unable to eat anything containing gluten.
I was diagnosed when I was three.
It was quite hard at school sometimes because I couldn’t always eat the same food as my friends, and you never want to be different. I had a really poor immune system when I was growing up and was often quite ill. And any sort of travel was challenging. It was the late 1990s and the condition wasn’t so known-about then.
