1 ‘Hitters Hill’ by Lee Howdle
“There are two things I love about this picture. The first is the scene of the peaks of Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill covered in snow with the pink sky above them. The other thing is the mist creeping in from the left. Normally, I’d have shot the landscape image facing the sunrise, but there was a bit of cloud cover behind these hills, and I thought it would make a great scene. It was -4C, so condensation was affecting the lens, making it tricky to focus.”

Digital Camera says: This stunning landscape photo cleverly uses the rule of thirds, with the path as a leading line towards the cluster of trees on the right. The snow contrasts beautifully against the pastel pink hues in the sky, capturing the beauty of the landscape of the Peak District. It’s also an example of a committed photographer braving the weather to capture that perfect shot.
