God, I wish I’d gone to the Gateways.

Picture this glorious scene: a tiny, secret, basement bar filled wall-to-wall with women-loving women. You might have caught a glimpse of the legendary venue when Pats and Deels finally got their slow-dance there in Call The Midwife or when it popped up in movie classic The Killing Of Sister George. From 1945 to 1985, the Gates, as it was affectionately known, was the ultimate place to pull.
