New York-based poet, writer and actress Pamela Sneed has been featured in the New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Time Out, Bomb and Vibe, and she’s graced the cover of New York Magazine. She has performed her original work to sold-out houses throughout America and the UK. Her voice, which she also uses to teach human rights and writing art at universities in New York and Chicago, is at the forefront of LGBT and black activism.
DIVA: Your poem Gift pays tribute to Gift Makau who was murdered because she was gay. How do LGBT people respond when they hear you read it in public?
