it was her daughter Lily’s love of her childhood doll’s house and its contents that inspired Rosie Middleton’s renewed interest in miniatures. Lily had often spent her birthday and Christmas gift money on new items for her doll’s house.
Rosie’s latest project revolves around that precious doll’s house family. She had a dream about the miniature house and its occupants, and she decided to create a world of stories about them, using Instagram. Her project, The Littleton Family Story, brings to life, in a series of photos and stories, a mini family that already existed, and always been named Littleton. “Even while not being played with, they still received Christmas cards and gifts every year,” Rosie remarked. “The house was purchased about 20 or more years ago at a craft fair; it was just plain wood, and my husband and I decorated it for our daughter’s Christmas gift. Most of the furniture was purchased by my daughter, but I have been making additional items for the Littletons, such as new dresses for Mrs and little Miss Littleton, some food and plates from polymer clay, a shelf unit for the kitchen, crocheted blankets and cushions, and much more. I even painted a little picture of Miss Littleton, although Mr. Littleton will get all the credit!”
