Cinque port

Today, Vernazza’s primary industry is tourism, but throughout the centuries the isolated village was famed for its fishing, wine and olive oil production

Having visited Tuscany the year before, the coast – and in particular the Cinque Terre region – was a must for our latest holiday. We spent a week using trains to jump between coastal towns, drinking wine and eating ice cream (the basil and olive gelato was a surprise success). We had walked up this track overlooking Vernazza bay several times during our stay in the town, but on the evening I got my shot, the fading light made it look especially beautiful. It really set the mood before our aperitivo back down in the town.
