Model Boats  |  January 2014
This 84 page issue is the first for 2014 and has for its main feature a working model of the submersible Lotus as used by 007, James Bond. Ashley Needham has built a dynamic diving model that looks the part and doesn’t need complicated electronics to function. We also have a Plastic Magic kit review of the Heller Mayflower kit where Dr. Marcus Rooks has successfully made this model sail under radio control.
VITT is a water-jet powered model of a rigid inflatable type of boat by the German manufacturer Manfred Sievers and John Elliott has done a full build review of this model which is based on a fibre glass hull, laser cut styrene parts and a KMB drive unit.
Also, we welcome back Peter Whitehead with his latest Miniature Sail article. Peter enjoys sailing small semi-scale models without radio control on both inshore lakes and the open sea and with this article he is developing that theme from his earlier piece in November 2013 Model Boats.
We also have the usual regulars of Range Finder, Flotsam & Jetsam and Boiler Room, as well as a Gallery by David Walter for Gloriana, an especially built boat that featured in the Queen’s 2012 Jubilee celebrations, plus of course items from clubs, readers, new products and your Free Advertisements.
So, this month we are both on and under the water with three major unique radio controlled feature model articles and I hope there is something in these for everyone with a passion for the model boating hobby. I, together with the magazine designer Richard Dyer and Colin Bishop who looks after the website for us, wish you all a very Happy Christmas and good fortune for 2014.
