On the cover are a pair of Foden ‘Speed’ wagons - the only two remaining in the world. This design was Foden’s last attempt at competing in the steam lorry market in the 1930s but they had limited success. Read the fascinating story of how these two managed to survive and how they came to be restored to immaculate condition by a collector in Aberdeen. We also bring you an update on a unique model of the Speed Six in 3 inch scale.
Ashely Best is always a popular writer and this issue we see the start of a new series in which he describes his latest award winning tram in ¾ inch scale; a Bolton gram with a significant history. As usual, the feature is hand illustrated in Ashely’s own, pleasing style.
After a short break we return to the scale model threshing drum as Ian Couchman starts to bring the article to a close by looking at painting and some finishing details.
For the forward thinking - John A. Stewart’s short CNC article this time sees him making tiny lifting links - and making light work of it too!
Non-Destructive Testing is not something you may expect to need to know much about - but after reading this article by Peter King you may well rethink that.
Do you wear bifocal spectacles? Do you find they are a nuisance in the workshop when it comes to trying to use machine tools? Don Allen might have a simple but effective solution.
The second part of Anthony Mount’s Ferrabee Engine, George Punter’s Saunderson & Mills engine drawings and Chris Gunn’s 6 inch scale Garrett 4CD build series complete the model making articles. Never mind the greenhouse… there’s plenty here to keep you occupied!
