Colour fringing is controlled very well on the whole, generally only being slightly noticeable towards the extreme edges and corners of the image frame. The Sigma and Tamron lenses are technically worse than the Nikon lenses at the short end of the zoom range, whereas the
Nikon 200-500mm and Tamron 150-600mm are the worst in the group at the long end. As with distortion though, automatic in-camera correction is available in all recent Nikon cameras, and is highly effective in removing all trace of lateral chromatic aberration.
