Prom’Swim Traversée de Nice à la Nage

PROMOTED EVENT

22 to 23 September 2018, Nice

Experience the glamour and glitz of the French Riviera from the unique perspective of the water with this fabulous swim across the Bay of Nice. Prom’Swim Traversée de Nice à la Nage was created three years ago by local swimming club Olympic Nice Natation and Loïc Branda, an international French marathon swimmer who grew up in the town and learned to swim here, and now runs swim holiday company Swim the Riviera. On retiring from competition, Loïc decided he wanted to inspire other swimmers and convinced the local authorities to allow him to put on this race in front of the famous Promenade des Anglais where Queen Victoria used to come for her winter holidays.

The event features a range of distances for all abilities of swimmers.

The 10km swim consists of four loops of 2.5km from Ponchette Beach to Port de Nice, the 5km race starts from Carras Beach and crosses the Bay to Ponchettes Beach and the shorter races are loops within the bay. A feed station is provided on the 10km swim.

A beach pasta party is planned for the Saturday evening (after the 10km, but before the 5km).

Being the French Riviera, there is of course plenty to do as well as the swim. Within Nice, you could stroll through the market in the old town or visit the port. Monaco, Eze and Saint Paul de Vence are all within easy reach and the coastline is noted for its dramatic scenery.
