Patchwork and Quilting  |  August 2012
We are still wondering whether summer will ever arrive in most parts of the UK, but this issue should evoke memories of sunny days! Appliqué and machine embroidery combine to make a very realistic looking flowers on the Geranium Quilt. Broderie Perse is the technique used for our Summer Flower Basket in the Calendar Quilt, with Suffolk Puffs for the Hollyhocks Tea Cosy, as the extra project.
Smaller projects this month include the Cutter Keepsafe and Mini Box bag, both ideal for storing equipment. And for our junior quilters there is a Mini Bean Bag Game and also a Placemat, designed and instructions give by Charlotte, a young quilter herself.
To Organise an Indigo Day will require the weather to perk up and bring some sunny weather, but if we do get some, what better way to celebrate with friends and have some unique fabrics to show for it. With the Olympics just around the corner, A Gift of Quilts – The Special Olympics, shows how quilters are also taking part. Enjoy the issue.
