Canon first’s mirrorless digital system cameras came back in 2012 with the launch of the EOS M (Electro-Optical System Mobility), which was effectively a mirrorless version of the EOS 650D DSLR camera. Without a reflex mirror assembly or viewfinder, the EOS M was indeed much smaller, slimmer and lighter, while still qualifying as a ‘system’ camera, thanks to having interchangeable lenses.
