MANZANERA MACKAY
AM.PMBFD
Jazzy ambient improv from Roxy Music instrumentalists.
In the 70s, Roxy Music were all about grabbing attention. With opening tracks like Remake/Remodel, Do The Strand and Street Life, perhaps only their labelmates King Crimson could claim to enter the room more exuberantly. Blue Skies, the song which opens the latest album from Roxy duo Phil Manzanera and Andy Mackay, is the antithesis of exuberance, with a deep bass groove, smatterings of light percussion and meandering horn giving the opener its only real direction.
