Cholsey ‘Prairie’ trips
GWR 2-6-2T No. 5526 arrived at the Cholsey & Wallingford Railway on hire from the South Devon Railway on November 9. The ‘Small Prairie’ is due to work the Oxfordshire heritage line’s ‘Polar Express’ trains. While plans were at an early stage when The RM went to press, it is hoped to run No. 5526 on regular public service over the New Year period. To help provide extra capacity for the ‘Polar Express’, carriages have been hired in from other heritage lines – including two Gresleys from the North Yorkshire Moors, a Mk.1 TSO from Wensleydale and Mk.2a TSOs from the Mid-Norfolk.
