The centenary of No. 4079 Pendennis Castle was marked in style at its Didcot Railway Centre home over the weekend of March 2/3. Among the highlights was a display of more than 100 ‘Castle’ related artefacts, including models, numbers and nameplates from scrapped and preserved classmates – plus archive photographs. A limited-edition real ale, Hook Norton brewery’s Pendennis 100 was launched at the event. Pendennis Castle performed alongside 0-4-0ST No. 1340 Trojan and ‘Saint’ No. 2999 Lady of Legend. The GWR 4-6-0 is seen in action on March 2.
