With Super League now well underway and Wigan having already claimed the first piece of silverware in 2024 with their World Club Challenge success over NRL champions Penrith Panthers, it is now time for the lower league clubs to step into the spotlight as the Championship and League One gear up for kick off.
Inside this issue we preview the prospects of every club in both competitions. Can anyone get close to Wakefield Trinity, relegated from Super League but now revitalised under new ownership, in their quest to make a quick return to the top-flight?
Another club enjoying a new lease of life are Oldham, and all eyes will be on them to see if they can carry their impressive 1895 Cup form into a successful promotion push.
We catch up with two players who made their names in the lower leagues and who have now been given a shot at Super League careers.
Shropshire lad Josh Hodson may not hail from a rugby league hotbed, but that hasn’t stopped him from earning his opportunity at Castleford Tigers, and George Flanagan Jr made a try scoring debut for Bradford with his dad on the same pitch, but now he’s flown the nest to fulfil his Super League ambitions with Huddersfield.
Leigh caused plenty of shocks last season and will be hoping that the acquisition of NRL star Mark Moylan will help them build on that this year. We talk to the former Cronulla Shark about his decision to join the Leopards.
On the international front, we follow Wales of their wheelchair tour of the USA and find out about the grassroots progress being made in Norway.
Plus, we hear from two teenage stars in the women’s game on opposite sides of the world; Brisbane Broncos academy sensation India Seeto and Leeds Rhinos first-teamer Caitlin Casey.
All this and much more to keep you entertained in between watching all those rugby league games on the TV!
