Six Chinese domestic cruise lines are coming together to form Huaxia International Cruises, under a shareholder operation agreement.
China Merchants Sekou, operator of Zhao Shang Yi Dun (the former Viking Sun), China Tourism Group, China Ocean Shipping Group, Jinjiang International Group, Shanghai Wusongkou Cultural Tourism Investment Group, and Shanghai Jiushi Group will use Shanghai Baoshan Wusong International Cruise Port as its principal homeport as it seeks to develop a local competitor to the large international companies that are now gradually returning to the Chinese market, including MSC Cruises, which will soon have two ships in the region, and Royal Caribbean, which is about to station Spectrum of the Seas in Shanghai.
