MINEHEAD REVIVAL
The West Somerset Railway will curtail its timetabled operations from January 2 until the end of March – including scrapping its keynote spring gala – following a “routine inspection” by the Office of Rail and Road. The visit was triggered by a whistle-blower who alerted the inspectorate to what they regarded as worrying aspects of how the railway was being run. At the same
time, statements criticising the railway’s operation were made on an internet forum, which were also noted by the regulator.
