GARMIN VARIA RADAR TAIL LIGHT
A nything that makes the road a safer place to cycle is a worthwhile investment, and Garmin’s Varia combined rear light and radar does exactly that. It’s the cycling tech you never knew you needed, and once you try it you’ll never want to ride without it.
The unit clips onto the seatpost of any bike using Garmin’s universal mount. From there, it keeps the rider visible with its light while scanning the road for approaching traffic with its radar.
It’ll connect to a Garmin Edge bike computer, selected Garmin wearables or a phone running the Varia app. The device will then alert you to any vehicles coming up behind from up to 140m away; approaching cars are indicated discreetly on the screen of a connected device and accompanied by an optional sound. Garmin claims the rear light can be seen from up to a mile away, while the Varia’s battery will last for up to 16hrs of riding.
