season ended, the scheming Penguin had risen to the top of the city’s criminal underworld after killing off his former boss Fish Mooney (Jada
Pinkett Smith). But as the action resumes, the ruthless gang leader finds himself a target for rival villains. ‘At the beginning of the new season, Penguin is in a position of power for the first time in his life,’ explains Lord Taylor. ‘He’s at the top, but he has no real tools to maintain that position, so it’s not long before he loses it all and goes right back to the bottom.
‘However, that’s where his real strengths lie. He’s used to coming up from below. He’s at his most dangerous when he’s snivelling and manipulating the situation without people noticing him. So he’s absolutely back in his element.’
