“Gosport is a small running club in Hampshire, but to me it’s a very caring club. When the club was closed at the beginning of lockdown, one lady created a chat group for just the women, thinking we could help each other’s motivation. After being at home alone for a week, I noticed my mood and weight were changing, and not for the better. I’m dreadful at motivating myself if I’m not running for a medal, which is why I’m a club member. I need company to keep me going. I suggested to the ladies a virtual run together, so we could chat through our headphones and keep each other going. I got my trainers on, started to run and I called someone, and before I knew it my run was almost half way through. When I got in that evening I was intrigued as to how many others were out running too. I collected all the photos they’d shared and put them together into a collage. I shared it to the group and there was excitement that this was almost like we were all running together.
