Have you got drawn into the belief that, as you progress in your running journey, you need to buy more and more trainers; one for speed sessions, one for tempo, one for long runs, two for trails (light and muddy)…? Even though having more than one pair of shoes may help improve overall strength in your feet, ankles and legs, as they each encourage the muscles in these areas to develop differently, having one pair of trainers for road running, and one for trails is sufficient for most people. You can even get away with an old pair of shoes for some trails; only really muddy wet trails require a deeper tread to provide more grip and protection.
