Sophie (@sophiegraceholmes) began her challenge at the London Marathon and finished at Edinburgh Marathon, and now holds the world record for the most consecutive marathons as a female with cystic fibrosis.
How did you get into running?
I first started running to support my health. Living with cystic fibrosis, a life-threatening lung disease, meant I needed to take special care of my body, and running was the best way to keep my lungs healthy. I began running track at age 11, competing in 100m and 400m sprints until I was 21. Unfortunately, my health declined, and my outlook became bleak, so I turned to longerdistance running. I have since completed the biggest challenge I’ve ever set for myself: 36 marathons in 36 days, a world record for the most consecutive marathons run by someone with cystic fibrosis.
