“I LOVE TRAVELLING, BEING IN THE MOUNTAINS AND EXPLORING REMOTE PLACES. ULTRARUNNING ALLOWS ME TO DO THAT”
This summer, Beth Pascall finished fourth lady at the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, one of the toughest trail races on the planet. As a junior doctor, she’s had to refine her organisational skills to succeed in both career and competitive racing

Beth has won more than 10 domestic ultras, including the Spine Race and the most recent UK Ultra Trail Championships
HAVE YOU ALWAYS BEEN A RUNNER?
I’ve always done a bit of running, but it has only become my main focus in the last few years. Growing up I loved athletics and cross-country, but equally enjoyed other sports. At university I took up rowing and accidentally became quite good. After a couple of years I was training in a high performance squad with full-time athletes. I enjoyed the training and the lifestyle, but it wasn’t sustainable for me whilst trying to complete my medical degree. After I quit rowing I ran more, as it was a flexible activity I could fit around my studies and work as a junior doctor.
