In 2020 the Royal Society of Literature launched its International Writers programme, a new life-long honour recognising the contribution of writers across the globe to literature in English, and the power of literature to transcend borders to bring people together. Each year more new writers are invited to join the RSL’s International Writers, forming an ever-expanding global community of authors. The second cohort of RSL International Writers have been announced as Anne Carson, Maryse Condé, Tsitsi Damgarembga, Cornelia Funke, Mary Gaitskill, Faïza Guène, Saidiya Hartman, Kim Hyesoon, Yōko Ogawa, Raja Shehadeh, Juan Gabriel Vasquez and Samar Yazbek. Recommendations for 2023 are now open and you can nominate a author here: https://rsliterature.org/rsl-international-writers-2023- recommendation-form/
At a time of rising nationalism, RSL International Writers seeks to celebrate the many ways in which literature can shape a future world.
