Camping  |  Autumn
At this time of year, most of us choose to pack our camping gear away until the warmer weather returns. But it doesn’t have to be like that. While snowy, freezing conditions might spring to mind, it’s surprising how mild the winter months can be – and as long as you’re prepared for the worst, you should be fine. I've found that camping in winter does need a completely different approach than in the summer, though. With longer hours of darkness and the cold to cope with, pitching up in the winter months needs to be thought through carefully, whether it’s the gear you take, where you go or how you intend to spend your time.
In this month’s issue we’ve set out to provide you with all the information you need to have a successful out-of-season camping trip. As well as top tips for staying warm and comfortable in your tent, we’ve selected some of our favourite open-all-year sites not to mention a choice of glamping sites where you can really enjoy the great outdoors without worrying about the weather. However you decide to go about it, I’d strongly recommend you give winter camping a go at least once. But if all this talk of cold weather is getting you down, we’ve also got a taste of the tropics in this issue… all the way from the sunny southwest of England!
