1. Jump clean out of the lake!
“Not a great tactic for staying alive, but during a moment of its highly over-charged sexual excitement, I watched a middouble male carp jump clean out of a lake and land on the grassy bank. He was stranded there and needed to be helped back into the water!”
2. Eat another fish!
“Although we don’t normally use live fish as bait for carp fishing, perhaps we’re missing something… I once watched a huge orange koi that lived in a large show tank at a garden centre where I worked, herd a shoal of six-inch grass carp into the corner, before it then consumed one of them! It was like watching a shark on Blue Planet. The big old koi had mastered the trick of catching his little tankmates, and after a few more went missing, he was moved out!”
