Having briefly stopped faffing about for 2018’s Little Dark Age, the infamously wayward duo revert to their default setting of Maddeningly Frustrating. Although first single Mother Nature was a fabulous Britpop ballad, only the Simon & Garfunkel folk of Nothing To Declare otherwise lives up to their potential. Christine And The Queens duet Dancing In Babylon is a self-indulgent skronk, most songs drifting in a mess of jams and aimless balladry, like Mercury Rev smothered by a Cath Kidston pillow. One day, they’ll stop being the frat party Hall & Oates.
