BASKING IN THE GLOW OF THE COMMERCIAL AND CRITICAL TRIUMPH OF LATEST ALBUM AUTOFICTION, SUEDE PROVE THEY’VE STILL GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO WHIP UP A STORM
Thirty-one
years after being declared ‘The Best New Band In Britain’ by respected music weekly Melody Maker, Suede continue to stand out.
As then, they find themselves in a unique proposition, hugely admired, yet never comfortably mainstream. And while many of their 90s contemporaries are neatly rearranging their greatest hits for orchestras (Britpop Classical), stripping them down for intimate acoustic strums (Richard Ashcroft, Ocean Colour Scene etc), or readying to play that old classic album in full (Liam Gallagher), Suede aren’t resting on their laurels either.
