THE CURE
DISINTEGRATION: DELUXE EDITION
UMC
★★★★
It’s ironic The Cure’s eighth LP, released in 1989, was called Disintegration: with it, they built a towering double album. Forms of fragmentation surrounded its making, though: keyboardist Lol Tolhurst’s alcoholism provoked an early bath, while Robert Smith was taking acid to battle depression brought on by his imminent 30th birthday.
