Marking 40 years since calypso classic Hot Hot Hot, Montserrat’s Arrow had been recording for more than a decade before that breakthrough. This 18-song CD/10-track LP shows Arrow, who died in 2010, was no one-hit wonder, with O’ La Soca helping him to popularise soca. There’s no sane reason why Throw It Up isn’t as ubiquitous at parties as his smash, nor why Long Time can’t get everyone dancing. If Hot Hot Hot had been his only single, he’d deserve acclaim, but this shows Arrow constantly hit the target.
