Corey Taylor
London Eventim Apollo
Slipknot frontman’s solo whistlestop tour of his own career.
“Are you ready to have some fun, motherfuckers?” Corey Taylor asks before tonight’s show has even started, to which the answer from 5,000-odd people is a loud and resounding “Yes!” The Slipknot singer has left the mask, boiler suit and angst at home tonight, and the stage is decorated with three plush rugs rather than sweat and viscera. This is essentially a ‘best of’ show, sampling the various endeavours he’s been involved in over the past 25 years, from Slipknot via his alt.metal project Stone Sour to the two excellent albums he’s released under his own name. The latter pair provide the evening’s most exuberant moments, from the barrelling Black Eyes Blue to Talk Sick’s glam-punk, though Stone Sour’s 30-30/50 and Slipknot’s rapturously received blackhearted ballad Snuff.
