The partnership of coach and shooter is important in any sport, and shooting is no exception, so it is always great to see particularly great examples. One such example is demonstrated in the partnership of Kirsty Hegarty and her personal coach, who just happens to be her father, Clifford Barr (Cliff) –a winning team.
It should come as no surprise that Kirsty Hegarty is going to the Tokyo Olympics. I was lucky to interview Kirsty when she won the quota place which will now officially take her to the Tokyo Olympics (see the Summer 2019 issue).
I first met Kirsty when she started competing at Olympic Trap and it has been wonderful to see her develop into a world class competitor. A trained aerospace engineer but now dedicated shooter, Kirsty has represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland winning medals and a quota place along the way.
