WELCOMING THE WORLD
EJ Churchill’s Rob Fenwick and Jamie Peckham tell Rhys Plum how they plan to make the World Sporting Championships bigger and better
There’s a lot going on in clay shooting this season, but EJ Churchill are hoping to make the World English Sporting an unforgettable highlight of the year. Rob Fenwick, EJ Churchill managing director, says “We hosted our first World Championship event in 2014. It was a great experience which allowed us to exhibit all that we have to offer here at Churchills.” But that was just the beginning.
“Before we started hosting the event, everyone used to moan that the only place to shoot a World Championship was in America – but we wanted to change that, and we did,” Rob continues. “At the 2019 World English Championships in San Antonio, everyone said to me that ‘the only place to hold a Worlds is at your place.’ It made me feel really proud of all that we’ve achieved.”
Since, their first World English in 2014, EJ Churchill hosted the World Compak in 2015, the World English again in 2016 and 2018, and the World Fitasc in 2019. Now the World English and Sportrap Championships return to the ground in 2021. Both shoots will be held over the glorious West Wycombe Estate, with the help of the ground’s partners: Promatic, Polaris, Toyota & CCI.
