I AM HONORED to be named as one of the “Greatest Coin Graders Of All Time” by COINage Magazine. I wanted to share my story and give a little advice for people who wish to become better at grading coins.
I started collecting coins in 1976 when I started searching for bicentennial quarters in change. At the age of 10, things became more serious when I began using money earned from mowing lawns to buy coins at my local coin shop, Edgewood Coin, in my hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. I spent so much time at Edgewood, the owner, Emory Robinson, offered me a job where I worked from ages 14-18. I was very fortunate in that I was given a lot of responsibilities at a young age. From grading coins, pricing, and helping clients from such a young age.
